In 2024, in addition to our expansive house league offerings, the CSYBA will be offering part-time travel Baseball options for community-based teams in the Spring/Summer season. For the inaugural season, we will be offering leagues at the 8u, 9u, 10u, 11u, and 12u age levels.
Games will be played on Sundays from late April through late June. Friday evenings will be used as a backup date for additional games. For communities already participating in the CSYBA house league, the schedule will be built to have zero conflicts with regular season play.
The season will consist of 11-weekends, beginning April 21st and running through June 30th. During scheduling, teams can elect to have specific Sunday's off from playing games, to leave time for any weekend tournaments that a team elects to participate in. The CSYBA will do all initial scheduling of the league and will keep all game reports and standings up to date.
Beginning on Monday July 8th, there will be an optional participation League Playoff, which will conclude on Sunday July 14th. Individual player awards will be given to all players on championship and runner-up teams, along with a large team trophy.
Who is this league for?
Community-based part-time travel teams, or 'B' or 'C' level travel teams. We want to keep kids playing in their respective house-leagues and this league allows players to do so, while still offering a competitive league and playoff.
Why offer another travel Baseball League?
Over the last decade, the CSYBA has evolved to become the largest Baseball league in the state of Illinois, with over 700+ participating teams, each year for the last three years. In seeing the changes to the Baseball landscape, the CSYBA has recognized that youth baseball demands are much different in 2024 than they were 10-years ago. While we will continue to provide and expand our house-league coverage wherever it is needed, we feel we are uniquely qualified to offer a part-time travel league that will benefit community based organizations as each of their communities continue to evolve.
Is there an option for Softball?
For the 2024 inaugural season, we are strictly offering Baseball, but it is something we have discussed and may offer in future seasons.
What is the cost to play?
Cost to participate will be $75 per team. This fee will go towards maintaining the CSYBA website, the scheduling process, and for awards at the season ending tournament.
The CSYBA will once again be hosting leagues throughout the 2023 season.
School grades are based on the 2022-2023 School Year. However, for Fall Ball 2023, we transition age groups. Fall Ball age groups are based on the 2023-2024 school year. So INCOMING 5th graders in the Fall will play Bronco... INCOMING 7th graders in Fall will play Pony, etc...
For Shetland, Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony, all teams are recreational 'house-league' teams. All communities are required to have open registration to participate and any communities with multiple teams must make every effort to balance teams.
For our Colt, Palomino, and Thorobred divisions, it is a mixture of open-registration and pre-formed teams, as well as travel/club teams. Divisions at these age groups will be broken up by level of play, depending on enrollment.
For each team, there is a $40 cost to participate. For communities with more than 10-teams participating across all of 2023 (Spring, Summer Fall), the league fee is capped at $400 per community. Fees cover the cost of the website, scheduling software, championship and runner-up individual player trophies, t-shirts, team trophies, and misc other expenses.
Reminder for the 2023 season. For Shetland, Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony age groups, we have fully moved to the USA Baseball standard for all geographic divisions. All bats must have a USA Baseball Stamp. At the Pony Level, BBCOR bats are okay as well. (Bats with USSSA 1.15 BPF certification are NOT ALLOWED)
For the Colt, Palomino, and Thorobred divisions, all bats must be BBCOR Certified.
